If you want to play the role of a merchant and idle at the Grand Exchange, flipping expensive items for profit, you can do that as well. In fact, you aren't even forced to use combat at all! If you feel like sitting in the forest and chopping trees all day, go for it. You don’t pick a class or race, and you aren't restricted to any one combat style. You can be whoever you want, and do whatever you want, at any time (with a few skill and quest-restricted resources and areas, of course).
